COVID-19 restrictions to resume in areas with red condition: Rouhani

MNA President Hassan Rouhani pointed to the possibility of resuming coronavirus-related restriction is some areas of the country.

Speaking in a session of Coronavirus Combat and Prevention Headquarters on Sunday, Rouhani said that provinces that have cities with red condition regarding the spread of the COVID-19 can re-impose restrictions for one week after the ratification of their request by Health Ministry and the HQ, adding that limitations can also be extended if necessary.

Rouhani went on to say that wearing face masks will be mandatory as of July 5 in crowded areas and indoor places.

"Today, despite the problems caused by sanctions and coronavirus, we do not need to borrow from outside and the central bank, but we need unity, cooperation and helping each other, said the President, according to his official website.

Stating that the year 1399 is the most difficult year in the country in terms of economic pressure of the enemy and coronavirus, he added "It is a time of solidarity and victory, and with unity and cohesion, God will grant us victory.

The President also stressed the importance of observing health protocols to fight coronavirus and that we have no second choice, adding, "From July 5, wearing masks in all public gatherings will be mandatory."

Rouhani described the actions of all sectors in the country in fighting coronavirus unprecedented and pointed out that to date, no cure or vaccine for coronavirus has been found and that this situation may continue and we must prepare ourselves for the long term, adding, "We must not let a peak happen in any province, and all people should help, because the sudden surge of the disease puts the country's medical jihadists under more pressure.

He referred to the topic of increasing rents and said that according to the resolution of the HQ, from tomorrow, rents should not be raised more than 25 percent in Tehran, more than 20 percent in metropolitan areas and more than 15 percent in other cities compared to last year.
