FNA – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said on Saturday that the million-strong participation of the nation in the funeral processions of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the hero of war on terrorism in the Middle East who was assassinated by the US Army, showed that his compatriots are resolute to follow the path of the martyred General.
Pointing to the participation of millions of Iranians in the funeral of Martyr General Qassem Soleimani, Hatami said, this morning in a local ceremony in the Southeastern port city of Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan province, that the Iranian people proved that they will not let the US and Israeli regimes interrupt the path of this martyr.
“We remind enemies of the Islamic Iran that any aggression against the security of this nation or its goals will draw a crushing response from Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic,” he added.
The minister went on to stress the failure of US’ maximum pressure policy against Iran, noting that “The grown, insightful and resisting nation of Islamic Iran has never given in and will never give in to the excessive demands of the arrogance, and we will definitely overcome these problems successfully and proudly.”
Lieutenant General Soleimani was assassinated in a US drone strike on Baghdad International Airport in Iraq on January 3. The airstrike also martyred Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), or Hashad al-Shaabi. Five Iranian and five Iraqi militaries were martyred by missiles fired by the US drone at Baghdad International Airport.
