Tasnim Iran is exporting pharmaceuticals to countries in Europe, Africa and Central Asia, the countrys health minister said.

In an interview with ICANA, Saeed Namaki said Iranian pharmaceutical producers have raised standards in their plants to the extent that the Islamic Republic has become a supplier of medicine in the global market.

The export of medicine to African and Central Asian countries is in progress, particularly in the sphere of biosimilar and biologic pharmaceuticals, the health minister said.

Namaki added that Iran has also begun to export medicine to Europe.

In comments last month, the secretary of Biotechnology Development Headquarter at the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology said Iran is exporting biopharmaceuticals to several regional and overseas countries, unveiling plans to increase export revenue generated by the knowledge-based companies.

Mostafa Qanei said Iranian biopharmaceuticals were being exported to major customers like Russia, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey, adding that plans are also underway to transfer Iranian biopharmaceuticals technology to Argentina.
