Zero flaring projects deliver

Financial Tribune - To reduce gas flaring in Khuzestan Province to zero the construction of a plant to collect 1.5 million cubic meters of associated petroleum gas, or APG, per annum is completed, managing director of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company said Wednesday.

"The plant, built by a private company, will help safeguard the environment, which is a top priority for AOGC," Jahangir Pourhang was also quoted as saying by the Oil Ministry's portal.

Overhaul is also underway to help the company reduce flaring by at least 1.1 mcm a year.

APG is natural gas found with deposits of petroleum. Flaring is the practice of burning natural gas that cannot be processed or sold. Flaring pours methane, ethane and propane into the atmosphere contributing to air pollution.
