Iraqi official urges world to stand against anti-Iran sanctions
IRNA Iraqi Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing on Sunday urged the international community to stand against US unlawful sanctions against Iran.

Speaking in a exclusive interview with IRNA, Estabraq Ibraheem Alshok said US sanctions against Iran has no legal or international justification.

Referring to strong ties between Iran and Iraq, he said US sanctions will have no effect on Iraqi ties with Iran.

Iraq will comply with all its commitments between Iraqi private sector and Iranian companies, he noted.

Alshok also emphasized reinforcing cooperation between Iran and Iraq in line with mutual interests.

Pointing to over 1,200 km common border between Iran and Iraq, he said both countries enjoy extended economic relations and have signed many contracts for joint venture investment.

He went on to say that US sanctions against Iran will have dangerous consequences in the world since they promote unilateralism.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Alshok urged the world and especially the UN and the Security Council to stand against extremist acts and to put an end to atrocity crimes.

On May 8, 2018, Trump withdrew from the JCPOA, which was condemned by other parties to the 2015 agreement.

Trump's choice has faced opposition of the international community; namely Russia, China, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
