Iran, UNIDO sign MOU
IRNA - Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mohammad Javad Jahromi and Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong signed a memorandum of understanding.

Iranian delegation from Information and Communications Technology Ministry headed by Jahromi in a meeting with Yong discussed the common cooperation grounds.

Based on the MoU, UNIDO will maintain cooperation with Iranian ministry in startup issues and in creating job opportunity in ICT field.

Iran is in a quadrilateral cooperation with Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey in promoting startup activities and UNIDO is playing the role of Irans advisor.

UNIDO primary objective is the promotion and acceleration of industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition and the promotion of international industrial cooperation.

Jahromi made his trip to Geneva, Switzerland to attend World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

Then in Vienna, Iranian minister Iranian held meeting with head of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs Simonetta Di Pippo.

It is worth noting that Iranian youths actively participated in Hackathon competitions which was held on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum is a global United Nations (UN) multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A hackathon is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including domain experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.
