Pak daily urges Iran-Pakistan to expedite diplomatic process

IRNA - Leading Pakistani English news daily strongly believes that Iran and Pakistan must expedite a diplomatic process which would bring the two countries closer together and initiate cooperation in security efforts as well as other fields.

Daily Times in its Editorial comments on Monday said that Pakistan should keep a balance in its ties with Iran and Saudi Arabia.

If Pakistan pivot too sharply towards Saudi Arabia and fail to stay neutral, the consequences could be disastrous, costing far more than what any amount of foreign investment could fix, it viewed.

It said Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khans telephonic agreement with Irans President Rouhani for increased regional cooperation between the two countries is a positive development.

It said according to a statement released by the PMs Office, an agreement was also reached for PM Khan to visit Iran in the near future, and it was stressed that there needs to be closer cooperation between the two countries intelligence agencies regarding cross-border terrorism.

This has been especially important following the February 14 attack in Iran on an Iranian Revolutionary Guards bus which killed 27 people, Daily Times stated.
