United Nations Iran – The UN Information Centre in Tehran (UNIC) and UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in cooperation with the Darbandsar International Ski Resort (LINK) and Roshd Charity Foundation (LINK), organized a Charity Ski Race in the Darbandsar International Ski Resort on Saturday 2 March 2019.
This Ski Race was dedicated to National Woman’s Day (26 February) and International Woman’s Day (8 March).
Some 50 winners from all categories, including children, teenagers and adults, got special awards from UNIC (LINK), UNFPA (LINK), UNICEF (LINK) and Darbansar International Ski Resort.
In her speech Dr. Maria Dotsenko, UNIC Director congratulated everybody on these special days and said that let’s unite our efforts to promote gender equality.
She also thanked Mr. Shemshaki, CEO of Darbansar International Ski Resort, for his generosity, organizational skills and all efforts to promote UN values and contribute to charity cause.
UNFPA Representative in Iran Dr. Leila Joudane congratulated the participants on both occasions and said: “Let’s stand up for better life of women and girls and giving them the power of choice”.
Mr. Shemshaki and his wife, Mitra Shemshaki-Kalhor, who is a member of the National Ski Team, highlighted importance of cooperation with the United Nations and thanked all participants.
For few years UN cooperates with Mr. Mousavi, Iran Ski Federation Director (LINK) of the International Relations, who invested a lot of talents and energy into logistics of the Race.
All proceedings from the event will go to “Roshd Charity Foundation”, which supports children in deprived areas of Iran. This Charity NGO is associated with the Department of Global Communications (LINK) of the UN Secretariat (LINK).
This is the third year that UN and its partners organize charity ski to promote UN values and reach out to new audiences for its public activities and support poor children.
