Warsaw: Poland not to forget Iran's support

IRNA The Polish Foreign Ministry in a statement appreciated Iran's aids, saying the country will never forget the supports and sympathies offered by Iran to Polish WWII refugees.

'Poland will never forget this touching act of sympathy and the support offered to its citizens who were cruelly affected by the war, Polish Foreign Ministry website quoted Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Maciej Przemys?aw Lang as saying.

The purpose of my visit is to hold a dialogue on the most important issues in our bilateral relations,' the statement reads.

'The deputy chief of Polish MFA and his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi focused on the Ministerial to Promote Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East organized jointly by Poland and the United States in Warsaw on February 13-14 this year. The deputy ministers also discussed the objectives and expectations towards the event.'

During his visit to the capital of Iran, Deputy Minister Maciej Lang laid flowers at the Polish Cemetery in Tehran, where Polish refugees who had been evacuated from the Soviet Union with Anders Army in the spring of 1942 are buried. The help that Iran provided to Poles arriving from the Soviet Union during World War II is an exceptional chapter in our shared history. Poland will never forget this touching act of sympathy and the support offered to its citizens who were cruelly affected by the war, it added.

'Poland and the Islamic Republic of Iran hold a regular political dialogue at the level of deputy ministers of foreign affairs. Before todays talks in Tehran, the last meeting in this format took place in Warsaw in November 2018. The aim of the consultations is to exchange views on bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe, as well as on global issues.'

This is while, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif earlier in a message said Reminder to host/participants of anti-Iran conference: those who attended last US anti-Iran show are either dead, disgraced, or marginalized. And Iran is stronger than ever, Polish Govt can't wash the shame: while Iran saved Poles in WWII, it now hosts desperate anti-Iran circus.'

Pompeo had earlier announced that a meeting with focus on Iran would be held in Poland on February 13-14.

Pompeo claimed that several countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East will participate in the meeting.

The meeting will be held in line with the US efforts to promote Iranophobia policy.
