IRNA - Khorasan Petrochemical Company increased its exports volume by 12 percent in the first nine months of this Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2018-November 22, 2018).

The export volume for Khorasan Petrochemical Company in the first nine months of the year, experienced 12 percent growth as compared to the similar time at the previous year, managing director of the company Hossein Shafiei told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.

Khorasan Petrochemical Company aims to register a new record in export till the end of this year, Shafiei said, noting that the company has exported 62 million dollars in the past nine months.

468,000 tons of Urea, 274,000 tons of Ammonia and 15,800 tons of Melamine has been produced in Khorasan Petrochemical Company, he added.

Khorasan Petrochemical Company, the largest chemical producer in the north and northeast of the country, was established in 1992 and began its operations in 1996 in the city of Bojnord, the capital of North Khorasan Province, the company website said.

Khorasan petrochemical complex, constructed on a 200-ha plot of land, consists of Ammonia, Urea, Melamine and Utility production units, with annual production capacities of 330,000 tons; 465,000 tons and 20,000 tons, respectively.

Khorasan complex is of special importance to POGDC - the largest shareholder of Pardis, Shiraz, and Kermanshah Ammonia and Urea plants - as it provides market control, and the opportunity to swap and to export its products to neighboring Central Asian countries.

This complex feeds on natural gas and its Urea and Ammonia units consume some 258 million cubic meters of gas on an annual basis.
