Iran crowned at World Military Taekwondo C’ships
MNA – Iran’s military taekwondo squad have won 24th World Military Taekwondo Championship.

The 24th edition of World Military Taekwondo Championships was held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, where Iran hit the first spot with its taekwondo practitioners winning three gold medals.

In men’s -58kg category, Mohammad Kazemi earned the first gold medal of Iran in the event by defeating China’s Yushuai Liang in the final bout.

In men’s -54kg category, Hamid Sadri gained a commanding 13-0 victory over his Saudi rival Yahya Abdulelah in the final contest and collected the gold medal.

Mohammad Bakhshi bagged Iran’s third gold medal on Monday. In men’s -68kg category, Bakhshi defeated rivals from Cameron 28-5, Canada 19-4, Brazil 13-5, and Bulgaria 25-5 to win the gold medal.

Russia hit the second spot in the competition with two golds, one silver and three bronzes. China, with one gold, three silvers and one bronze stood at the third place.

The 24th edition of World Military Taekwondo Championships is included in the International Military Sports Council (CISM) calendar, coordinated by the Ministries of Defense and Sports of Brazil and organized by Navy of Brazil (MB). The event was held this year with participation of some 340 military athletes from 25 countries such as Germany, Bulgaria, Canada, China, United States, Iran, Italy and Russia.
