Iran foils 80 destabilizing operations this year: IRGC cmdr

IRNA Some 80 destabilizing operations planned by terrorist groups have been detected and foiled in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), according to a senior IRGC commander.

Brigadier-General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of IRGC aerospace force, told reporters on the sidelines of a conference in northern Iranian province of Qazvin that the US and its regional allies are pursuing three plans against Iran, including the economic war, the military confrontation, and destabilizing the country.

They aim to implement a destabilizing plan in Iran like the ones they carried out in Iraq and Syria, Hajizadeh said.

Iran managed to take preemptive measures, and targeted the think-tanks of the terrorist groups which led to failure of most of the terrorist operations, the commander added.

He said that only 3 to 4 percent of the terrorist operations were successful in the current year and all the other operations were foiled due to timely moves of intelligence and security forces.
