FM Zarif: World avoids being taken hostage by US

IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday that the excessive use of military and economic force by the United States has persuaded the world public opinion not to be taken hostage by the US.

In a live interview with Radio Iran, he said the US is now being isolated in the world.

The Americans and Europeans have identical stances at some points, but are at odds about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and it seems they are now role playing as good and bad police.

The US economic power is very remarkable, he said, adding that confronting such economic power mainly under the present global circumstances where companies take final decisions on their economic relations and fate is a tough job.

The Europeans have withstood against their biggest partners and ‘we can witness the US isolation, irritation and isolation’, Zarif said.

The failure of Europe in meeting their pledges with regards to the JCPOA is a crystal clear fact, but it does not hurt the JCPOA in terms of global peace and security, he added.

The US has withdrawn from UNESCO, NAFTA, PARIS, TRANS-PACIFIC which there was no proof on their uselessness, but these indicate that the US is a rouge government which acts based on tyranny, Zarif further added.
