Deputy DM: Iran’s defense power consolidates regional peace, stability

FNA – Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Qassem Taqizadeh underscored that his country has developed its defense power to strengthen peace and stability in the region.

General Taqizadeh made the remarks in a meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs H. Wiranto in Jakarta on Friday evening on the sidelines of the 8th International Exhibition of Indonesian Defense Industries.

“Iran’s defense power has always served consolidation of peace and stability and continued security in the region,” he said in the meeting.

General Taqizadeh said that Iran has never started a war against neighbors in its contemporary history and has emphasized on peaceful methods to resolve the regional problems.

Wiranto, for his part, stressed mutual respect and understanding in bilateral relations between Tehran and Jakarta, saying that results of General Taqizadeh’s visit will help establishment of stability and security in the region.

General Taqizadeh had also on Wednesday met with Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard, and pledged to expand bilateral ties and cooperation in defense industries.

During the meeting, General Taqizadeh expressed solidarity with the Indonesian government and nation as well as families of the victims over Tsunami in Palo and air crash in the country.

Highlighting friendly ties between the two countries, he called for boosting bilateral relations in all fields, saying that Iran and Indonesia boast of numerous capacities which should be used in line with their interests.

Contending that Iran’s history is free of any aggression and starting war, General Taqizadeh said that Islamic Republic of Iran has always been working for promoting peace and stability in the region and world.

Describing Iran and Indonesia’s position as strategic, he said that further interaction between the two countries’ officials will help strengthen peace, stability and security in the region and world.

The Indonesian defense minister, for his part, hailed close ties between the two countries, saying that enhancement of ties between the two governments and nations can help promote friendship between them, as Jakarta is keen on preserving interaction with Tehran.
