MNA � Iran exported some 595,711 tons of non-oil goods from the ports of southern Hormozgan province during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (started on March 20).







Ghasem Askarinasab, the director of Bandar Lengeh Ports and Maritime Directorate, made the statement, saying, the figure indicates a 21% growth comparing with the corresponding period of last year.

He noted, on the other hand, the province�s imports have observed a considerable decline in the period.

�Over 43,000 tons of non-oil goods have entered the country through the western ports of Hormozgan, which indicate a sharp fall of 59% year on year,� he added.

Askarinasab noted that agricultural and livestock products had the lion's share of exprots from the western ports of the province, and reached186,924 tons during the period.

According to him, transit of goods via Bandar Lengeh, as the most active corridor in the province, observed a 9% growth in terms of volume during the past seven months.

�Of the total 1.146 million tons of goods entered and exited the province�s ports, over 803,000 were transported via Bandar Lengeh,� he added.

The official added that over 4 million tons of petroleum products were loaded/unloaded in Hormozgan ports during the period.

Askarinasab had previously said that the launch of 'Shiyu Port' in Parsian city and the minerals terminal in Bandar Lengeh port city, inviting merchants and investors and arranging face-to-face meetings with them, activating new shipping lines, providing port facilities and reducing the time of unloading and loading, are among the measures that have been taken to promote the performance and operation of the ports in southern Hormozgan province.

Bandar Lengeh is located 240 kilometers west of Bandar Abbas and is the main port city of western Hormozgan province.
