US sanctions pursue psychological war against Iran: Spox

IRNA US measure to re-impose sanctions on Iran from November 4 aims to begin a massive psychological war against the Iranian people, spokesman for Foreign Ministry announced early on Saturday.

US can never do anything against the great Iranian nation, Bahram Qasemi said.

Commenting on the Countdown to Iran Sanctions declared by the US Department of State, Qasemi said that it is more like a joke, childish behavior and a toy for Washington.

US President Donald Trump did release a photo on Friday in which he said sanctions are coming on November 4.

Sanctions, with which the US was to put pressure on the world society to follow anti-Iran bans, have not been fruitful for them, Qasemi said.

Major part of US measures failed after paying high expenses to coerce banks, companies and economic enterprises into preventing cooperation with Iran, the senior diplomat added.

It does not seem that the US has more capability for pressurizing world countries into not cooperating with Iran, Qasemi said.

By waging a psychological war, the US has planned to strike fear into the hearts of the Iranian people, and this is what Washington has been following, he noted.

He went on to say that the aim of the United States is to coverup its defeats faced in the area of economy and economic sanctions.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials are well capable and knowledgeable about how to manage the country as the government has already planned for countering the US ambitious policies.

After Washington's May 8 exit from the Iran Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US gave a 90- to 180-day wind-down period to other countries before it starts re-imposing sanctions on Tehran on November 4. The US move drew criticism of the world leaders, particularly the Europeans.

As Qasemi said, there is nothing to be concerned about.

The wait and see approach will show that the United States can do nothing against the great Iranian nation, Qasemi concluded.

In related development, Irans President Hassan Rouhani said a few days ago that there will be nothing new to happen on November 4. He described the US threats as propaganda and a psychological war.

Most observers believe that that sanctioning Irans oil for a long-term period will hike up the oil price and weaken [US] dollar in the international arenas, which will ultimately lead to the US defeat and its withdrawal from its unilateral decisions, most observers believe.
