Iranian Lambo clone creator says car is first step to domestic supercar industry

Sputnik - Engineers showcased a reverse-engineered Lamborghini Murcielago SV clone earlier this month in Tabriz, an industrial hub in northeast Iran, painstakingly reverse-engineering and building the supercar copy after four-and-a-half years of research, design, modeling and manufacturing work.

Thecopycat Lambowas developed bya team of16, withall ofits components designed and built inIran itself. The car has a six cylinder 3.8 liter Hyundai engine, allowing the vehicle toaccelerate toup to280 km/hour. For the record, the top speed ofthe real Lamborghini Murcielago SV is 342 km/hour, butthat car has a V12. Not bad fora clone!

Sputnik Persian got a chance tospeak toMasoud Moradi, one ofthe Iranian Lamborghini clone's creators, tolearn more aboutwhat inspired the vehicle, and the future he and his colleagues see downthe road.
"We love cars, and Lamborghini is the best car. Lamborghini was our dream, and we created our own dream," Moradiexplained. "On the other hand, we are designers and would liketo one day design cars forthe automotive industry," he added.

"We began the project atthe digital design stage and the processing ofdata. All the components were first designed inAlias Design [a computer program forindustrial vehicle design], and modeled inaccordance withthis data. Then, we moved the component designs tothe production workshop, where parts were built based onthe original. After that, work was completed onthe vehicle's electronics, body assembly and trim. After that, the vehicle entered the road test stage," the designer said.
Asked toassess the car's quality, and whether or not it has a future inthe export market, Moradi said that while he and his colleagues feel that quality is "at a very high level," there are still some things he and the team wants toimprove. "As far asthe production and sale ofthis vehicle is concerned either inIran or abroad, this depends ona decision onintellectual property which can only be made byLamborghini," he said.

In any case, the designer emphasized that the experience ofreverse-engineering and building a car fromscratch has been a highly worthwhile experience. "We believe that having reverse engineered one ofthe world's best cars, we were able toattain know-how onthe design and production ofsupercars," Moradi said.
Finally, Moradi apologized tothe Italian supercar maker for "borrowing" the Lamborghini design. "But ultimately, we strive tocreate our own brand, toturn our own ideas intorealityIn the nearfuture, we will build the best supercar," the designer promised.
