IRNA � Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Wednesday congratulated successful holding of parliamentary elections in Afghanistan which will lead to that country's security, stability and development.

Congratulating Afghan government and nation over the parliamentary elections, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes successful parliamentary elections in the neighboring country after three-year delay.

Tehran believes that the election in Afghanistan was a positive move towards stabilization of democracy leading to rampant security, stability and development in the neighboring country, he said.

'We hope after formation of the new parliament to witness new development resulting to resolve the country's problems and escalation of peace, sustainable security and development bringing more welfare for Afghan people,' he said.
