Third party trying to upset strong Iran-Pakistan ties

IRNA - Visiting Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday said definitely third party is trying to upset strong brotherly ties between Iran and Pakistan.


In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), after completing his one-day official visit to Pakistan Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said that Pakistani brothers have been informed about the presence of the third-party on border region with an aim to disturb bilateral ties.

Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour arrived in Islamabad yesterday to discuss with Pakistani officials the fate of abducted Iranian border guards.

He also held important meetings with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javid Bajwa and other high-ranking security officials of the country.

On October 16, Irans Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said terrorists had kidnapped the Iranian forces, including local Basij volunteer forces and border guards, near the town of Mirjaveh on the Pakistani border.

Expressing his views, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said that successful diplomatic efforts were launched after Mirjaveh incident and Iranian ambassador to Islamabad and defense Attach visited Pakistan officials over the attack.

He said that 'we thought it necessary to reach out our Pakistani brothers to discuss the fate of abducted Iranian border guards'.

The IRGC commander added during his meetings with Pakistani officials he conveyed concerns of Iran on Mirjaveh incident. He said Pakistani officials have assured full cooperation to Iran to help release Iranian border guards kidnapped by terrorists.

He said improved border security, better border cooperation and increase in number of troops inside Pakistani territory came under discussion during his meeting with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javid Bajwa.

Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour went on to say that Iran has fenced almost 90 percent of its border with Pakistan and expects that Pakistani brothers would also take more steps to ensure security of the joint border so that terrorist cannot attack Iranian border forces.

He added that Iran and Pakistan have agreed to promote mutual cooperation to resolve all bilateral issues.

The IRGC commander said that 'we are confident that Pakistan will take all possible actions' to help release captive Iranian border guards.

He said that definitely third party is trying to upset strong brotherly ties between Iran and Pakistan. Brigadier General warned that the US and some other countries are trying to create instability on Iran-Pak border to create misunderstandings between two friendly neighbors.

We have informed our Pakistani brothers that we should remain vigilant from these third parties, he said.
