IRNA – Iran’s improvement in world innovation rankings by 67 in the last four years, has turned the country into the world’s fastest growing one in innovation, said Iranian Vice President for Scientific and Technological Affairs on Tuesday.
Sourena Sattari made the ramarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of Western Azarbaijan Province’s Science and Technology Park.
“Iran is among the top 10 countries in most of the scientific fields, including nanoscience, which indicates a whopping improvement,” he added while referring to Iran’s rank of 15 in the world scientific articles’ rankings.
“Over 3,600 knowledge-based enterprises are currently active in Iran, whom are being supported with the government’s $2.8b funds,” he added.
Iranian knowledge-based companies sold some $14.3b in the last Iranian year (beginning on March 21).
Visiting Iran’s nuclear achievements exhibition, held in Orumiyeh University, and meeting provincial university presidents and elites are among the itinerary of the vice president’s one-day visit.
