Iranian, Japanese private sectors’ further cooperation essential: President Rouhani
president.ir - Referring to the importance of development of cooperation and joint ventures by companies and the private sectors of the two countries, President stressed the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields of business, economy, energy, petrochemicals, machinery, health, environment and tourism.

Speaking on Tuesday in a meeting with the new Japanese Ambassador to Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani said, “Long-standing Iran-Japan relations have always been friendly and the two nations have special respect for each other”.

“Iran and Japan have close viewpoints on many issues, and the visit of the two countries' officials to various international communities, especially on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, has always been positive and in line with the development of relations,” he continued.

The president also referred to the issuance of the ICJ’s ruling in favour of Iran over the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said, “Despite the US withdrawal, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to comply with its obligations under this agreement, and we will adhere to it until it is in the framework of our national interests”.

Referring to the necessity of all countries' efforts to preserve the JCPOA as an international agreement, Dr Rouhani stated, "The more countries distances themselves from the unreasonable demands of American statesmen, the more the JCPOA and diplomacy will be strengthened".

"We believe that the war and killing of people in Yemen must be ended and that problems and issues should be resolved through a political solution," the president said, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought tensions and the lack of friendship with other countries, especially its neighbours.

Dr Rouhani emphasised the efforts to accelerate the transfer of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people, referring to the need for the development of Iran-Japan consultations to resolve regional and international issues.

New Ambassador of Japan to Tehran presented his letter of credence to the President and said, “The Japanese Emperor and government are willing to develop amicable Tehran-Tokyo relations and cooperation”.

Referring to the historical, friendly relations of the two countries in various fields, he stated, "Despite the US pressures and sanctions, the Japanese government and companies continue to maintain relations with Iran and they will stay in Iran, because Japanese traders and officials trust in the future of Iran”.
