British envoy: Compliance with JCPOA base of ties with Iran

IRNA - British Ambassador to Iran Rob Macaire says compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as an international agreement is the base of 'our relations with Iran'.

In a meeting with Governor General of Fars Province Ismail Tabadar, the British envoy said the EU is trying to help Iran reap the benefits of the deal particularly in the economic domain.

London's commitment to the JCPOA has naturally had some political costs and consequences for it but Britain and other parties to the deal would continue to support it because they believe that they should remain committed to what they have signed.

Macaire said strengthening commercial ties and paying attention to meeting basic needs such as food, medicines and other affairs related to safety, health and people's lives should be considered the first step towards expanding Iran-Britain relations.

No doubt, there are lots of companies in London which are willing to establish relations with Fars Province because of its capacities and potentials, he said.

For his part, Tabadar said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been after establishing and consolidating friendly relations with other countries including Britain, adding that the UK and other European countries are expected to remain fully committed to the JCPOA.
