Iran Armenians ready to defend country: Senior archbishop

IRNA – Senior Armenian archbishop on Saturday stressed Iranian Armenians’ preparedness to defend the country against foreign threats.

‘We will continue the martyrs’ pathway,’ Sahak Khosravian, representative of the Archbishop of Armenian church in Tehran said in a reference to 104 Armenians who were martyred in defense of Iran during the eight-year war (1980–88) imposed on the country.

He made the remarks in a ceremony held to celebrate inauguration of sculptured head of an Armenian martyr who has been martyred during the ‘Holy Defense’.

The ceremony which was held with presence of a number of Iranian officials and the Armenian people of Tehran was held to thank the role of Armenians in defending the country during former Iraqi dictator Saddam’s war imposed on Iran which is described as ‘Holy Defense’.
