Xinhua — France has strongly condemned the shooting attack on a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz on Saturday, which killed at least 29 people and wounded scores, including civilians.
“We offer our condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Iranian people,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Agnes van der Muhll in a statement issued late on Saturday.
“We are following closely developments in the site in connection with our embassy in Tehran (for eventual French victims),” she added.
On Saturday morning, four armed men attacked a military parade marking the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war in 1980-1988 in Ahvaz city.
Ahvaz National Resistance, an Iranian ethnic Arab opposition movement, and the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
