Iran’s president orders investigation on deadly crash

IRNA – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani ordered the local officials to conduct a comprehensive probe into the cause of the deadly accident that left at least 19 people killed on Tuesday.

Expressing regret over the incident, he said that the recurrence of such irreparable tragedies attest the managerial, technical, and supervising weaknesses.

He also called on officials to address the deficiencies in order to prevent the similar incidence in the future.

A passenger bus en route from capital Tehran to the southeastern city of Kerman collided with a tanker truck at 11:30 p.m. local time, overturned and burst into flames. Some 27 people were injured.

The crash occurs only two months after a similar incident in western Iran that killed at least 11 people.
