Iran Parliament speaker arrives in Minsk

IRAN – Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani heading a high ranking delegation arrived in Minsk on an official visit at the invitation of his Belarusian counterpart and in response to a visit to Tehran of the speaker of Belarusian Senate.

Larijani arrived in the Belarusian capital from the Russian city of Volgograd where he took part in an Iran-Russia parliamentary meeting.

He is scheduled to meet with his Belarusian counterpart and the president of the country during his stay there.

Larijani and his entourage were greeted by the head of the Iran-Belarus parliamentary friendship group and chairperson of the international committee of the Belarusian Parliament.

The Russian Duma and Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) held their joint cooperation commission meeting in the southwest Russian city of Volgograd on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by the chiefs of the Iranian and Russian parliaments.

The two sides during the meeting discussed bolstering mutual cooperation between Iran and Russia in various fields including enhancement of banking, economic, agricultural and transportation ties.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei was also present in the meeting.
