Zarif defends Iran foreign diplomacy in Majlis

IRNA Diplomacy does not carry the meaning that you have to cancel your trip to a country for a worthless hated terrorist group. Of course, we have stated our stance on this subject to the French government, Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told Iranian lawmakers on Sunday.

Zarif attended Majlis (Iranian Parliament) open session to respond to three questions from Javad Karimi Ghoddoosi, the representative of Mashhad.

'Why did you travel to France with no intelligence and security estimates when the terrorist group Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) and other enemies of the Islamic Republic were holding a meeting in Paris?' Karimi Ghoddosi asked as his first question.

Zarif replied, 'Unfortunately, since MKO's name was removed from the list of terrorist organizations about 10 years ago, they have been holding an annual meeting in Paris, and we consider holding this meeting a hostile act done by the West against Iran.'

Iran's foreign minister added that Tehran sees this annual meeting an unacceptable support for terrorism and that it has repeatedly declared its stance to the French government.

'In the telephone conversation I had with French Foreign Minister yesterday, I explicitly repeated the same thing,' he said.

Zarif added Iran maintains its relations with the French government according to the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran's foreign minister went on saying that the presence of MKO in France is not Iran' sole problem with France and that supporting the Zionist regime, the terrorist groups in Syria and the infanticide carried out in Yemen by Saudi Arabia are among the issues on which the two sides have different viewpoints.

'Through diplomacy we have been able to isolate the US in the world and to show that our people are logical and that the US, the Zionist regime and the terrorists are outlaws who stand against the international community,' Zarif said.
