IRNA - All Pakistani news papers and TV channels gave wide coverage to the newly-ended visit to Islamabad by Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Zarif arrived in the Pakistani capital city on August 30 on a two-day official visit.

During his tour to Pakistan, he held separate talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and Finance Minister Asad Umar.

He also held a meeting with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at army headquarters.

The Iranian minister was the first top foreign diplomat to visit Pakistan after the new government came into power earlier this month.

Leading English daily �Dawn� in its report said that as Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties, the government expressed unequivocal support for Iran�s position on its nuclear deal with the West that has been abandoned by the United States and urged the other parties to the agreement to remain committed to it.

It said talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who is the first foreign leader to visit Pakistan after the assumption of office by the PTI-led coalition government, PM Khan recalled the �inseparable bonds� connecting Pakistan and Iran together and said that during his government he would make all efforts �to cement these relations in various areas to the benefit of both countries�.

The report stated the improved border security situation was mentioned during Mr. Zarif�s meeting with his counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Meanwhile, the �Express Tribune� said Pakistan has supported Iran�s �principled stance� on regarding its nuclear deal with major world powers.

�Pakistan stands with Iran in this hour of need,� Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif in the federal capital.

The report added the Iranian foreign minister held formal talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan, his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi and also visited the GHQ to meet Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

He delivered a message of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, inviting the prime minister for the upcoming Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit in Iran, in October 2018.

In another development, �Radio Pakistan� said Prime Minister Imran Khan has said Pakistan and Iran are key partners for the growth and prosperity in the region through enhancing connectivity and promoting people to people linkages. He was talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in Islamabad.

Zarif delivered a message of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, inviting the Prime Minister for the upcoming Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Iran in October this year.

�Radio Pakistan� in another story said Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says Pakistan is taking sincere steps for peace and security in the region. He was talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in Rawalpindi.

In a third report the radio said Pakistan and Iran have underlined the need to promote cooperation in various sectors, including trade and economy.

The understanding came during meeting of the visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad.

Pakistan official news agency �APP� reported Prime Minister Imran Khan received Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs Javad Zarif, for a meeting, who conveyed to him the greetings and best wishes of the people and leadership of Iran on assuming the office. He stated that Iran wished continued progress and prosperity to the people of Pakistan.

Javad Zarif delivered a message of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, inviting the Prime Minister for the upcoming Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Iran, in October 2018, APP said.

It also said that Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif had called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters. Regional security situation and other matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

�APP� in another story stated Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Iranian counterpart Mr. Javad Zarif have held detailed talks to enhance bilateral cooperation and achieve regional peace and stability.

Foreign Minister Qureshi said Pakistan supported Iran�s principled stance on JCPOA and expressed hope that remaining parties to the Agreement would uphold their commitments in letter and spirit.

The �APP� reported Foreign Minister of Iran, Jawad Zarif called on Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, Asad Umar and discussed matters of mutual interests.

Asad Umar thanked the Iranian Minister and stated that the finance ministry would continue to support its efforts for further strengthening the brotherly relations between the two countries.

The �APP� also reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser in Parliament House and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations and regional issues.

Meanwhile, another Pakistani daily, the 'News,� said Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif called on Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ. General Bajwa and Iranian Foreign Minister discussed regional security situation and other matters of mutual interest.

The Army Chief said, �Pakistan is taking sincere steps for peace and security in the region.�

�The News� in another story reported Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan and Iran were connected by inseparable bonds of historic, religious and cultural affinities.

Imran Khan said this while talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who called on him here.

�The Nation� reported Pakistan supported Iran's stand on the nuclear agreement after the US withdrawal from the deal and also hoped that other signatories would continue to stick to its terms.

In a meeting here with Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan supported Iran�s principled stance and expressed the hope that remaining parties to the agreement would uphold their commitments in letter and spirit.

It added Javad Zarif also held detailed meetings with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

�Pakistan Today� said Pakistan�s civil and military leaderships have assured the visiting Iranian foreign minister of Islamabad�s continued support to Tehran.

The paper said Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day visit, held detailed talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan, his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi and later with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, with both sides underlining the need to promote bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation.

In another development, �Daily Times� reported Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has assured his Iranian counterpart Jawad Zarif of Islamabad�s complete support for Tehran�s stance on the country�s nuclear deal with major world powers.

During talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif, who was on a two-day visit to Pakistan, Qureshi expressed the hope that the remaining parties in the agreement uphold their commitment after the United States pulled out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May this year and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.

Later, the visiting minister met Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ. An ISPR statement issued after the meeting said regional security situation and other matters of mutual interest were discussed.

�Business Recorder� in its report said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has assured visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif that his country's fully supports Iran's stance regarding its nuclear deal with major world powers.

In a statement, Qureshi said he hoped that the other nations in the accord will honor their commitments. He added that International Atomic Energy Agency has said that Iran has adhered to the agreement.

�Samaa tv� reported Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif have agreed to continue engagement for enhancing cooperation in all areas.

He also said that Pakistan supports Iran�s principled stance on JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), and expressed hope that remaining parties to the agreement would uphold their commitments in letter and spirit.

�Dunya Tv� said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad. During the meeting, they exchanged views on different aspects of bilateral relations and regional security situation.

It said Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to attend the Asian Cooperation Dialogue in October.

Zarif conveyed his government�s felicitations to the prime minister and expressed the hope that the new leadership in Pakistan would work to foster ties with Iran.

�Geo Tv� of Pakistan said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss matters related to Pak-Iran ties and regional security.

The Iranian FM congratulated PM Imran on the election-win and extended an invitation to attend the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit on behalf of the Iranian president.

On the occasion, Imran Khan said that Iran and Pakistan enjoy historical and religious ties.

It Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif earlier on Friday. General Bajwa and Zarif discussed regional security and matters of mutual interest, it added.

All Pakistan urdu news papers including Jang, Nawa-e-waqt, Express, Dunya, Abtak, Pakistan, Khabrain and others have also given special coverage to the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister.
