Iran ranking 4th in Asian Games

IRNA Iranian squad with 40 colorful medals is now standing on the 4th place at 2018 Asian Games which is underway in Indonesia.


Iranian karate fighters Taravat Khaksar in the weight category of -55 kg, Amir Mahdizade in -60kg weight category and Rozita Alipour in the weight category of -61 kg received silver medals on Sunday.

In Pencak Silat field, Tahmineh Karbalaei in the weight category of 65kg snatched a bronze medal.

Iran's weight lifter Ali Hashemi also bagged a bronze medal.

Iranian 3x3 basketball team defeated Thailand and received a bronze medal on Sunday.

So Iranian squad with 14 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze medals is now on the 4th place.
China with 174, Japan receiving 122 and South Korea with 94 medals are now raking first-third respectively.

The Iranian outfit at the 2018 Asian Games comprises 280 sportsmen and 98 sportswomen who will compete in 42 sports fields.

The 2018 Asian Games kicked off on August 18 and will wrap up on September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Over 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries attended the competition.
