Iran rejects Russian national’s claims about Caspian Sea

IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi rejected as baseless the claims raised by a Russian national by the name of Rajab Safarov about the Caspian Sea.

Safarov has never been a member of any Russian negotiating team on the Caspian Sea and his claims are baseless and not worth being paid attention, Qasemi said Monday night.

No doubt that Safarov’s remarks and claims are void of any credibility, being raised at this period of time under guidance of certain elements and centers.

In a recent interview published by an overseas Persian language media outlet, Safarov claimed that following the disintegration of the former Soviet Union in 1996, Iranians retreated their right to the ownership of 50 percent of the Caspian Sea.
