Iran's President to attend Caspian Sea summit

IRNA Iran's President Hassan Rouhani will visit Kazakhstan on Auguse 11 to particiapate in the Caspian Sea countries summit.


President Rouhani will leave Tehran Saturday afternoon (August 11) for the Kazakh city of Aktau on the eastern bank of the Caspian Sea, said Parviz Esmaili, deputy head of communication and information center at presidential office.

The main goal of the visit is to take part in the meeting with the heads of Caspian Sea littoral states. The two-day summit will be concluded by issuing a joint declaration, the official said on Wednesday.

He added that a number of the cabinet members will accompany President Rouhani during the visit.

President Rouhani and the representatives of other four countries bordering Caspian Sea Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan- will also sign some major and strategic cooperation instruments.

Some bilateral meetings with senior officials, including his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, are also on Rouhani's itinerary.

The Iranian President will return to Tehran on August 12, Esmaili said.
