EU has no objection to IP project

IRNA - European Union Ambassador Jean-Francois Cautain to Pakistan said that EU has no objection to the proposed Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project, local media reported on Tuesday.


The European diplomat made the remarks during a meeting in Islamabad with Prime Minister-designate and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan.

Jean-Francois said that the European block has no objection over the Gas pipeline project which is in progress between Pakistan and Iran, adding that the EU wants stability and development in Pakistan.

The EU, would also assist Pakistans new government in getting investment from the union member countries, he said.

Jean-Francois Cautain added the European Union was ready to work with the new government of Pakistan in security, economy, GSP-Plus, education, and rural development sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Imran Khan appreciated Jean-Francois Cautains personal efforts and interest to improve bilateral ties between Pakistan and European Union and to help the people of Pakistan in difficult moments.

The PTI chairman desired that both Pakistan and European Union should improve people-to-people contacts through engagement and investments in multiple sectors including health and education.
