IRNA – More than 1.159 million Iranians visited Turkey in the first half of 2018, according to figures released by Directorate General of Migration Management of Turkey’s Interior Ministry.
The statistics also suggested that some 2.374 million Russian tourists and 1.547 German tourists visited Turkey in the six-month period.
Iranian tourists were on top of the list of visitors of Turkey before summer. But an increase in the forex rate and the departure taxes, reduced number of Iranians visiting abroad, which brought Iran down to the third position in the list of foreign tourists to Turkey after Russia and Germany.
Turkey attracted some 32.6 million tourists last year which earned an income of $26.2 billion for the country.
Turkey plans to attract 40 million tourists this year which will mean $32 billion of income for the country.
