Iran gov’t spokesman resigns

IRNA – Government spokesman Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said on Wednesday that he has resigned from all his responsibilities in the Iranian government.

Talking to reporters, Nobakht said his decision is aimed at keeping Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s hands free to reshuffle his cabinet.

On Dec 2014, President Rouhani appointed Nobakhat as the Vice-President and head of the Management and Planning Organization.

The president also gave executive order to Nobakhat to revive the Management and Planning Organization.

MPO is a specialized organization responsible to earmark budget for different organs in the context of the annual budget plan whic is presented to parliament for approval.

Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dissolved the Organization in gross violation of the Constitution.

The Constitutional provisions cited by President Rouhani to revive the MPO envisaged decentralization of the financial administration pre-emptive against corruption.
