Iran set to digitalize 20% of its agriculture in 4 years: Minister

IRNA Iran has plans to digitalize 20% of its agricultural economy in a four-year plan which can raise production per area and boost water efficiency, Iran's ICT Minister Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi said on Monday.

Azari Jahromi made the remarks speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony where an agreement was signed between ICT Ministry and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad to make use of the capacities of ICT Ministry in the agricultural sector.

He said that the plan will improve efficiency in the agricultural system, reduce the use of water and pesticides, and increase products per area.

'Fortunately both ministries have banks Keshavarzi bank and Post Bank which will provide the finance needed for the plan,' the minister said. However, he said that the costs of the project will be returned within two years by savings in water and reduction in electricity consumption.
