IRNA � Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a message late Friday congratulated Iran�s football team on its victory over the Moroccan team in Saint Petersburg.

The message read that achieving a sweet victory by the Iranian brave youth in the first step of 2018 World Cup made the dignified Iranian nation happy on the auspicious day of Eid al-Fitr.

The Iranian children displayed their dignity and zeal so that all would witness the country�s honor and majesty.

Iran national football team beat the Morocco team 1-0 in 2018 World Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia on Friday.

The 2018 World Cup started on June 14 in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from various countries.

The first half of the game ended without goal while in the second half Aziz Bouhaddouz scored own goal in stoppage-time (93) to give Iran the first victory and the three points at the World Cup since 1998.

Iran will play against Portugal and Spain later in 2018 World Cup.
