World Cup carpets unveiled in Tabriz
IRNA Seven precious carpets woven by artists from Tabriz to mark 2018 Football World Cup were unveiled in a ceremony attended by senior provincial officials and artists.

Speaking at the ceremony, weaver of the carpets Hossein Kazemi-Hamed appreciated Tabriz Municipality and provincial veteran athletes.

He further noted that weaving seven carpets took six and half a months to complete.

Three of the carpets will be presented to the captains of the rival teams of Iran in the first stage of World Cup, he said, noting that three others will be donated to Russian Football Federation, FIFA Museum and Astan Quds Razavi Museum.

Another carpet will be donated to Iran National Football Team if it manages to advance to the next stage, he said.

On the background of weaving World Cup carpets, he said that the move began from Football World Cup 1998 in France, when the first precious hand-woven carpet was presented to Muslim player Zeineddin Zeidan.
