In his congratulatory message to Armenias new premier on Wednesday, Rouhani hoped for the expansion of Tehran-Yerevan relations during Pashinyans tenure.
Pashinyan, 42, was elected the new prime minister by Armenias parliament on May 8 after spearheading weeks of protests in the former Soviet republic.
The new prime ministers predecessor, Serzh Sargsyan, resigned earlier in the month amid mass protests of the opposition supporters.
In a telephone conversation with the Armenian prime minister on Sunday, Rouhani voiced Irans determination to expand relations and cooperation with its neighbors, including Armenia.
