Russian official: Iran, Russia,Turkey leaders likely to meet

IRNA - Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for Syrian affairs said the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey are likely to meet in late August.


Alexander Lavrentiev told reporters that no date has been set for the summit but it might take place in late August or early September, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Moscow quoted Ria Novosti news agency as saying.

The working group of Iran, Turkey and Russia will meet in Ankara in a near future, he said.

The high representatives of the three countries as supporters of the Astana peace talks will meet in the Russian resort city of Sochi next month.

The ninth round of Syria peace talks participated by representatives of Iran, Russia and Turkey as well as the UN chief's special envoy on Syria concluded its work in the Kazakhstan capital city of Astana Tuesday.
