Iran committed to fight terrorism: Defense minister
IRNA Iranian defense minister said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to fight terrorism.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is bound to fight terrorism and would give support to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Iran's Minister of Defense Brigadier General Amir Hatami said during a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart Lieutenant General Tariq Shah Bahrami.

General Hatami described the neighboring Afghanistan's security as Iran's security.

Defense minister of Afghanistan, for his part, thanked Iran's support for his country in the past four decades, adding that both Tehran and Kabul are facing common threats.

Bahrami called for Iran's support from Afghanistan's peace process and urged Tehran to help Kabul in fighting terrorism and eradication of drug traffickers.

Defense minister of Afghanistan arrived in Tehran on Saturday to meet the Iranian authorities.

Iran and Afghanistan have a 936-kilometer-long border, and the value of their trade exchanges stands at $2.2 billion.
