US withdrawal from Iran deal not easy: FM spokesman

IRNA The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has certain characteristics that make it difficult to withdraw from it, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

'Iran won't be the first to pull out of, but if it's not beneficial to Iranians, we will make the necessary decisions,' said Bahram Qasemi, adding, 'We should wait and see what the US will decide on May 12.'

Qasemi also said that since Donald Trump took office, he has talked about pulling the US out of deal, but it is not going to be easy for them; 'the act will be painful for the US and will end in remorse.'

Saying that all the scenarios have been predicted, he added, 'The US will pay if it quits the deal, which will result in further lack of the world's confidence in them.'

He said the US' disloyalty is nothing new, but their pulling out of Iran Deal will make it more clear that no country can trust the US.

Regarding Trump's remarks about Iran's regional activities, Qasemi said, 'There is no agreement between Iran and the EU; the talks in Rome were the continuation of the talks between Iran and four European countries in Munich to find a political solution to the crisis in Yemen.'

He also said that one of the most bitter facts of the world is that the Saudi-led coalition is bombarding the oppressed people of Yemen.

He added that the discussion was about how to help the people of Yemen; 'We hope that the countries that created the catastrophe will use the holy month of Ramadan and let some aids get to the oppressed people of Yemen.'
