Top Iranian officials mark Workers’ Day

April 30, The Iran Project – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Monday (April 30) received a group of workers from all over the country on the occasion of International Workers’ Day and the previous day President Hassan Rouhani also attended a ceremony to commemorate the event.

Ayatollah Khamenei also visited an exhibition of Iranian goods and praised the quality of domestically-made products on Monday and listened to producers talking about their problems, and issued necessary orders to relevant officials to solve the problems.

Addressing the meeting, Supreme Leader said today, the war room against us is the US Department of Treasury, adding that one way of confrontation with the Islamic Republic establishment is an economic one; another way is the provocation of certain dim-witted and ignorant states in our region [against us].

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to add, “the Americans provoke Saudis into creating conflict and tension in the region. Why don’t they go after the Zionists? Because they want to wage a war between Muslims.”

Also during a ceremony to honor prominent workers in Tehran on Sunday (April 29), President Rouhani underlined the importance of being optimistic about the country’s future, saying the enemies are trying to create despair among the people.

“One of the main conspiracies of the enemies against the Iranian nation is to create despair and disappointment regarding the future of the country,” he stated.

“The man, who has recently taken a position in the US and is very foul-mouthed and has a hatred of Iran, began last year to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not see its 40th revolution anniversary,” the Iranian president said.

He further expressed hope that Iran will end the current year with more achievements and the revolution will enter its 41st year on February 2, 2019.

In January, John Bolton, US President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, in  an opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal wrote: “America’s declared policy should be ending Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution before its 40th anniversary.”

May 1 is the International Workers’ day, also known as the Labor Day, which honors the workers. A few countries have another date for the occasion.
