FM spox: Washington-Riyadh partnership fuels regional insecurity

IRNA - Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said the US-Saudi Arabia cooperation is aimed at fueling insecurity in the region.

In reaction to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent anti-Iran remarks in joint press conference with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, Qasemi that Iran has offered advisory assistance to Baghdad and Damascus with an aim of uprooting terrorism in the region at the request of their governments.

Qasemi added Iran will continue to provide advisory assistance to those countries that are plagued with terrorism.

He said what Pompeo calls as partnership with Riyadh actually means destabilizing the region, sparking conflicts, strengthening arms race, fanning the flame of extremism based on the adventurism of some inexperienced and warmonger Saudi politicians.

He added that such partnership has entailed devastating consequences such as the persistence of violence, hostility and distrust among the countries of the region, the prolongation of crises, insecurity and instability in the region, and as long as this unholy partnership exists, the regional nations would not experience peace, tranquility, human and economic development.

Qasemi underscored that the US and Saudi FMs would realize the real consequences of their so-called collaboration by taking a glance at the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Yemen and the persistence of extremism and terrorism in the region.
