Iran Air to increase flights to Qatar

IRNA Iran Air Airliner plans to increase its weekly flights to Qatar by adding one aircraft which has been purchased in post-JCPOA era, Director of Iran Air office in Doha said.

The Airbus 321 which has been purchased after the implementation of Iran nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will be used in Tehran-Shiraz-Doha route on May 1, Ahmad Jafari told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.

The 198 seats passenger plane will be added to Iran Air flights to Qatar and the number of weekly flights will increase to three, he said.

After imposing sanctions by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on Qatar, Iran Air by operating extraordinary flights sent aids to the Qatari people.

Eight Franco-Italian ATR72-600 aircraft are scheduled to be delivered to Iran in 2018, the advisor to former road and urban development minister for international affairs Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan said earlier.

After the implementation of Iran nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran's national flag-carrier Iran Air signed contracts with French Airbus, American Boeing and Franco-Italian ATR, to buy 200 aircraft.

Iran Air inked a contract with ATR to purchase twenty ATR72 passenger planes from the Franco-Italian company after removal of the Western imposed international sanctions against Iran.
