Iran not to adhere to JCPOA under any circumstances: Deputy FM

IRNA - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Friday that it would be wrong to think that the Islamic Republic would remain committed to the nuclear deal under any circumstances.

Araqchi, who is in Oslo in continuation of his consultations with European officials, made the remarks in a meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide.

He added that the Iran's nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is a security agreement for preventing the proliferation of nuclear arms.

Araqchi said any attempt to undermine the JCPOA would hinder the move of non-proliferation of nuclear arms.

He stressed that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has more than ten times confirmed that Iran is implementing its commitments under the 2015 landmark nuclear agreement it signed with the P5+1 group of countries.

Araqchi said the US is trying to destroy the JCPOA by its lack of commitments under the deal.

Describing the JCPOA as a 'great historic experience', he added that all sides of the nuclear agreement should be committed to the deal.

The Norwegian FM, for her part, stressed the significance of safeguarding and implementing the deal.

She added that there is no option better than the JCPOA, urging all sides of the contract to be committed to the deal.

In a meantime, Araqchi and Eriksen Soreide, also reviewed that issues of mutual interests and the regional and international issues.

The Norwegian FM voiced Oslo's willingness to cooperate with Tehran in economic arenas, oil, gas, renewable energies, fisheries, marine industry, etc.
