Sputnik- With the crisis in Syria heating up, Russia has stepped up military and humanitarian supplies to the war-torn Arab country.




The large landing craft (LLC) Orsk has sailed intothe Mediterranean, Turkish websites reported, posting photographs ofthe vessel's passage throughthe Bosphorus.

Turkish naval observer Yoruk Isik posted photographs ofthe Russian warship online Sunday, suggesting Russia was stepping upits own military efforts inSyria.

According toYoruk Isik, the Orsk, which is part ofRussias Black Sea Fleet, is heading toSyrias Mediterranean port ofTartus, which is home toa Russian naval supply base.

?Seen ondeck are several BTR-80 armored vehicles, a Tigr fighting vehicle, KamAz trucks and a Ural fuel truck.


The Russian Defense Ministry hasn't yet commented onthe issue.

This is already the Orsks fourth mission toSyria this year withthe landing ships Minsk and Nikolai Filchenkov making their way intothe Mediterranean Sea viathe Black Sea straits onApril 5 and 13 respectively.

Since January, the Azov and Alexander Otrakovsky landing craft and the Kyzyl-60 transport ship have hauled cargoes toSyria.

According toforeign media reports, Russia landing ships, auxiliary vessels and chartered ships have been taking part inOperation Syrian Express, carrying cargoes forRussias air base atHmeymim nearLatakia, the Russian naval supply base atTartus, and forSyrian government forces.
