Lebanese president: Killing JCPOA to have no practical effect

IRNA Washington's action in killing Iran nuclear deal will have no practical effect, Lebanese President Michel Aoun said.

Aoun made the remarks Sunday in an interview with a French media.

The political tension between Iran and the US dates back to many years ago but no one intends to start war, he said in response to a question on possibility of US walking away from the nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and its effect on the region.

Firm decisions made by President Donald Trump are aimed at displaying the US power, he added.

The Lebanese president had earlier termed negotiations with big powers and signing of the nuclear accord as a sign of Irans power and a promising step towards regional peace.

The US administration has done a great deal over past year to kill Iran nuclear deal.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already confirmed ten times Iran's commitment to the landmark July 2015 international deal.

This is while European countries are trying to guarantee implementation of Iran nuclear deal.

Trump is expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing implementation of JCPOA on May 12.
