EU, Japan underline implementation of Iran nuclear deal

IRNA – The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Foreign Minister of Japan Taro Kono in a phone call stressed implementing the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

“Speaking about the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), both the High Representative and the Foreign Minister reaffirmed their strong commitment to the deal and to its implementation, The European External Action Service (EEAS) reported.

“The High Representative thanked the Foreign Minister for Japan’s contribution to the implementation of the deal, including through technical assistance,” EEAS continued.

This is while European countries are trying to guarantee implementation of Iran nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to visit US President Donald Trump.

Trump is expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing implementation of JCPOA May 12.
