IRNA - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that there is no obstacle in the way of Iran-Russia-Turkey cooperation in solving other issues.


She made the remarks in response to a question on the possibility of promoting trilateral cooperation or something similar with Iran and other countries.

Zakharova further noted that cooperation with Iran and Turkey in light of the volatile situation of the region as well as the roles both countries play in Syria is important.

If it is necessary for Russia to cooperate with them to solve other issues, there will be no hindrance to it, she said.

Cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey on Syria has been increased over the past two years and in addition to bilateral relations, they have trilateral meetings at highest levels, the latest of which was held in Ankara on Wednesday.

Ankara meeting was the second round of tripartite talks in continuation of Astana talks and Sochi summit which had been planned to help promote cooperation in findig a solution to the civil war in Syria.

The first round of presidential talks was convened in the Black Sea resort of Sochi in November 2017.

Moscow, Tehran and Ankara are guarantors of the Syria peace process, an initiative brokered in the Kazakh capital of Astana to find a peaceful solution to the Syria war.
