Iran, Ireland can enjoy JCPOA benefits

IRNA - Iranian Ambassador to Ireland Javad Kachueian Iran and Ireland through l cooperation in various fields can enjoy mutual cooperation considering the positive climate created in international scene during post-JCPOA era.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency Wednesday, Kachueian said the Iranian nation's steadfastness in neutralizing sanctions regime, wise guidelines of the Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's active diplomacy eventually forced Westerners to sit at negotiating table with Iran leading to the signing of the JCPOA.

Abolishment of all anti-Iran resolutions passed by the UN Security Council, recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium and repayment of overdue debts to Iran created a positive climate in relations between Iran and Europe including Ireland, he said.

Europe has so far taken positive steps in the wake of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action towards mutual cooperation in scientific, cultural, political, economic and trade fields at the level of governments, he said, adding 'In fact, the JCPOA broke Iranophobia.'

In response to a question on the level of trade exchanges between Iran and Ireland, the Iranian envoy said 'The financial and economic structure of Ireland are heavily dependent on American economic and financial institutions and it seems that such dependency will further deepen after BREXIT (Britain's exit from the European Union. Irish banks are very conservative and act cautiously without accepting any degree of risk.

Despite willingness of Irish companies and economic institutions to resume their past trade ties with Iran, they are facing some problems in doing so due to the lack of cooperation on the part of the Irish banks out of their rising fear of being targeted by new sanctions, he said

The Iranian envoy said Irish political and economic authorities are of the belief that in order to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries it is necessary for Dublin to reopen its embassy in Tehran and they are trying to take appropriate measures in this respect.

Both Tehran and Dublin are seeking to upgrade the level of mutual relationship in various fields, he said, maintaining that there are grounds for bilateral cooperation in the areas of oil, energy, oil products, foodstuff and pharmaceutical industries, medical equipment and information technology.
